A note from the Modesto Insight Meditation Sangha February 3, 2012

The Modesto sangha is partnering with the Buddhist Pathways Prison Project (formerly Folsom Pathways Sangha – see http://www.folsompathwayssangha.org/) to begin bringing Buddhist services including mindful movement and mindfulness meditation into two Central Valley state prisons: DVI in Tracy and SCC in Jamestown. We are hoping also to bring in Spanish instruction (one person in the Modesto group is fluent) into DVI; we don’t have anyone who is Spanish-speaking for SCC. Our current plan is to offer services twice a month at each facility – probably starting in the March timeframe.
This is an inquiry to see if anyone from EBMC’s sangha might be interested in doing prison dharma service at the DVI facility in Tracy, where a few people might carpool out from time to time. If anyone is interested, please have them contact me a: insightmeditationmodesto@gmail.com.
Our next full meeting of the Modesto volunteers and BPPP mentors is on Mar. 4th.
