Big news from Tse Chen Ling!
Dear friends, students and community,
WE’RE MOVING AND WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We are officially in the market for a new rental, or rent-to-own locale. With the challenges of accessibility and limited parking, we have made the difficult, yet well considered decision to not renew our lease at the end of June. We recognize that despite the challenges, it is the right time to move on.
Our current home is not wheelchair accessible, and our aging Gurus are facing more and more difficulty navigating the many stairs. Since 2009, we have been constantly working to reduce TCL’s expenses. Despite these efforts, our monthly income has routinely fallen short of our operating costs. We’ve survived by the kindness of a few special donors willing to make up the shortfall. With the goal of positioning ourselves to purchase a new home and to increase financial efficiency, we are looking at temporary or long-term commercial or residential spaces.
The move will be challenging, and one thing is for certain, we can’t do it without the help of our community. TCL invites you to help us find a new home and to make this transition as seamless as possible. We hope that all of you will find a way to continue to remain involved and will support this move any way you can.
Over our 22-year history we have had many homes in various neighborhoods around the City. As you know, the Center is so much more than any of the buildings it has occupied. At its core, TCL is our teachers, our programs, and of course, you, our community. We hope that you will join us in our mission to find the perfect new home and that you will continue to be a part of Tse Chen Ling for many years to come.
Join us for a “TRANSITION TEA” on April 28th at 6:30 pm.
