Dear Friends,
In the spirit of cultivating the Beloved Community, we are happy to announce the
2012 MINDFULNESS RETREAT FOR PEOPLE OF COLOR
JULY 27th – 29th, 2012
DEER PARK MONASTERY
with special guest teacher
Rev. angel Kyodo Williams
This Mindfulness Retreat is intent on supporting friends and practitioners who self-identify as People of Color. It is open to people of Native American, African, Latina/o, Asian Pacific Islander, Caribbean and Middle Eastern ancestry (as well as a small number of their Caucasian partners/family members.) You do not have to call yourself a Buddhist to attend; all levels of retreat experience are welcome.
Theme: Transforming Suffering, Touching Peace & Freedom
This retreat weekend honors the potency of space for people of color to heal, nourish and celebrate ourselves, our communities and our ancestors through learning and cultivating mindfulness practices together.
Through the practices of mindful living offered during this retreat, we will reconnect with the sources of joy, peace and freedom for ourselves, our communities, and our ancestors. We will learn concrete ways to embrace, transform, and heal our own suffering, ancestral suffering, and institutional oppression. Join us as we continue our path of individual and collective healing to co-create a Beloved Community.
Scholarships
Through the generous support of the Thich Nhat Hanh Continuation & Legacy Fund, some retreat scholarships are available. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. First priority review date is June 30th. Early submissions are highly encouraged.
Registration is NOW OPEN and will close on Friday, July 20th, 2012
